Use artificial intelligence to support judgement, not replace responsibility

Practical AI for Small Businesses: Where It Helps and Where It Does Not

Artificial intelligence can help small businesses organise ideas, summarise information and create first drafts. It can also produce confident mistakes and generic recommendations.

Understanding the Issue

Begin with repetitive, lower-risk tasks such as restructuring notes, preparing checklists and creating wording alternatives. A person should remain responsible for the final result.

Protect confidential information. Customer details, passwords, financial records and sensitive documents should not be entered casually into public tools.

What Business Owners Can Do

Verify claims involving law, tax, health, finance or current events using authoritative sources. AI can misunderstand UK requirements or invent supporting material.

Measure whether the tool improves quality and saves time after checking. AI works best as an assistant inside a clear process, not as an unsupervised decision-maker.
